SIBU: The Sibu Creative Arts Club (SCAC), with the support of Bukit Assek Assemblyman, Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, and Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), is set to organise The First Blast Youth Forum 2025 with the topics of K-pop and dance on September 12 to 13.

SCAC’s Chairman, Zon Hii Duan Chuan, said the forum will be held at two venues, namely the Sibu Indoor Stadium and the Kingwood Hotel here.

“The K-Pop Workshop will kick off on September 12 (next Friday) at the Sibu Indoor Stadium starting at 3:00 pm. The workshop will be conducted by international instructors who will guide participants in professional dance techniques and stage performances.

“The next day, on September 13 (next Saturday), a forum session will be held at Rinwood Hall, Kingwood Hotel, starting at 9:00 am,” he said at a press conference here on Thursday.

Hii said the forum will feature invited panels from the Philippines, namely Joze, Malvin (Indonesia), Tiffany Teoh and First Blood (Malaysia), who will share their experiences and views on K-pop culture and dance, as well as fostering cultural exchanges between the countries.

“The highlight of the forum is the showcase performance, which gives youth participants a chance to showcase their talents on stage, in a supportive and inspiring atmosphere,” he added.

Meanwhile, organising chairperson, Jasmine Tou Siew Han, said that the main focus of the forum includes how K-pop and dance become tools for self-expression among youth, the role of art in uniting communities of various races, as well as career opportunities in the performing arts industry.

“In addition, the health benefits of dance activities are also highlighted, including in terms of physical, mental and personal development,” she said.

Representative of the N.51 Bukit Assek Service Centre, Councillor Kiing Teck Ho, said that this forum is expected to attract between 250 and 350 young participants who are interested in the field of modern arts and culture.

“Participation in this forum is free and we invite anyone who is interested in modern dance to register. Registration can be made directly during this event.

“However, we also provide a link on The First Blast Youth Forum’s social media page to facilitate online registration,” he explained.

The event’s consultant, Mike Tiang, said that the forum is not just an entertainment event, but rather a platform for learning, cultural exchanges, and building a strong arts community among the younger generation.

“Through this forum, we want to ignite the youth’s passion to create, share and build the future through the art they love,” he added.
