MUKAH: The police here arrested a youth for allegedly possessing drugs last Saturday morning.
Mukah District Police chief, DSP Jimmy Panyau said the 21-year-old from Kampung Sekrang Igan, Matu, was detained by anti-narcotics police around 12.30am in front of a shop at Jalan Medan Setia Raja.
He said during a check on the suspect police found 19 pills believed to be Ecstasy with an estimated weight of 6.84 grammes.
“The suspect was taken to the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department office here for further investigation. He was tested negative for drugs,” he said.
Jimmy said the case was being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952 and the suspect was remanded until 2 August to assist in the investigation.
