Youth urged to embrace opportunities in AI and IoT

KUCHING: The younger generation is encouraged to seek forums where it can harness the same passion and enthusiam to work constructively for overall betterment.

Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom called upon everyone to leave their individual differences behind and work to gether to seize the wonderful opportunities that would come into their way.

“We are in the beginning of the watershed of things, involving AI (artificial intelligence), internet of things (IOT) and so on.

“Do not let yourselves be left behind. You are whom our future depending upon. So wake up and align yourselves with these things.”

He said this in his speech during the SDNU pre-Christmas gathering at the SDNU Headquarters, Rumah Dayak here on Sunday (Dec 15).

Mawan, also Advisor in the Premier’s Department (Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development), urged members of the Dayak community to be on the same page so that many good blessings would come in their way.

“We must be able to identify and determine which side of the bread is buttered, align yourselves to work with the government of the day.”

 He then cited any golf event as a forum of unity where people come from diverse background.

“They may not like each other at first but when it comes to sharing the same interest and same passion – swinging the balls – they are all of a sudden together, united,” he quipped.

Mawan was touched by SDNU branches for bringing along varieties “Pot blessed” dishes to dinner, adding to the merriment of the Christmas occasion, affirming the spirit of giving.

Also present during the ceremony were Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan; his wife Datin Melinda Bucking, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata and other distinguished guests.
