BETONG: The youth have also welcomed the increase in the number of Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) constituencies from 82 to 99.
This is especially true for those in rural areas, who see the Sarawak government under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition as making efforts to facilitate more comprehensive regional development.
The increase is also seen as a way to address more issues faced by the people, particularly the needs of the younger generation.
STEPHEN LIM YONG KUANG, Councillor

With the rapidly growing population, this increase in DUN constituencies is seen as a way for the Sarawak government to implement more inclusive development. As a young leader, I hope this move will bring faster development to rural areas and create more job opportunities. I also hope the government will fulfil the aspirations of our youth.

The addition of DUN constituencies will ease the responsibilities of elected representatives, especially in terms of equitable distribution of allocations and balanced constituency management. We hope that with more representatives, public issues can be addressed more effectively, boosting the economy and advancing Sarawak through people-centric policies.
EDRIC DEJADZWA FERGUSON

This initiative by the Sarawak government reflects efforts to align administrative structures with demographic growth and the increasingly complex needs of the people. The government must focus on densely populated, developing, and underserved areas to ensure more balanced and effective representation.
FATHIN FATHNIN MOHAMAD RADZIF

The increase in DUN constituencies in Sarawak is not just a matter of numbers or political power; it reflects the seriousness of the government in engaging with the people. In the post-pandemic era and amidst the digital revolution, community needs have evolved. Youth no longer just want to be heard — they want to be part of the decision-making process. Therefore, the addition of seats must come with leadership reform that is more inclusive, meritocratic, and data-driven.
