BINTULU: Youths are the backbone in shaping a more progressive and inclusive future for the nation, said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister cum Bintulu Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

He said that camps such as the one organised by Lions Club of Bintulu expose young people to leadership values, service spirit and friendship that can produce a competitive and socially conscious generation.

“Such programmes are vital platforms to nurture future leaders who are globally minded, broad-hearted and capable of bringing positive change to their communities.

“The government is always committed to supporting youth development as they are the bridge to a brighter future,” he said.

Tiong’s speech was delivered by his Special Duties Officer II, Steven Kong Kai Seng, during the closing of the 11th Lions Youth Camp here on Sunday.

He added that government support for youth initiatives not only cultivates leadership and volunteerism, but also contributes to tourism and culture through cultural exchange and international friendship networks.

The three-day camp, which began last Friday, featured a variety of engaging activities including talks, games and team-building sessions.
