KUCHING: Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) is repositioning itself as a key driver of unity initiatives in Sarawak as it enters a new five-year phase following its Retreat 2026.

According to a press release from the foundation, the retreat marked the official launch of YPS’ 2026–2030 strategic plan, setting a clearer institutional direction as the organisation strengthens its role in promoting unity in diversity across the state.

Held from Jan 23 to 26, the retreat brought together YPS staff for workshops and strategic planning sessions aimed at consolidating internal readiness, sharpening organisational focus and aligning teams with the priorities outlined under the new plan.

The retreat opened with a focused workshop designed to reset mindsets and reaffirm YPS’ mission of fostering unity, celebrating Sarawak’s diversity and preserving its cultural heritage, while equipping staff with the clarity and capabilities needed to support its expanding role in community engagement and nation-building efforts.

Under its five-year plan, YPS will first focus on strengthening its institutional positioning, branding and messaging to establish itself as a credible, trusted and visible agency championing unity in diversity.

Building on this foundation, YPS plans to deepen its presence across communities through inclusive programmes, structured dialogues and collaborative initiatives that reflect Sarawak’s multicultural reality and are aimed at strengthening public trust and participation.

In the subsequent phase, YPS will expand its reach by strengthening partnerships with community-based organisations, educational institutions, cultural groups and strategic partners to ensure unity-driven initiatives remain grassroots-oriented and impactful.

As the plan progresses, YPS will place greater emphasis on amplifying impact through the involvement of community leaders, key opinion leaders and strategic partners, recognising their role in shaping narratives, influencing behaviour and strengthening social cohesion.

By 2030, YPS aims to establish a lasting legacy and position itself as a leading agency in Malaysia for promoting unity in diversity, anchored in what it describes as a distinctly Sarawakian approach.
