SIBU: The Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS) Sibu building is currently undergoing Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) Occupation Permit (OP) approval before it can officially open, said Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.

The Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development said that both teachers and students are currently enrolled in Kuching while waiting for the school to officially open.

“Once everything is ready, we will move the students from Kuching to Sibu. I hope it will happen within the next couple of weeks.

“I’m trying very hard to ensure they can move to Sibu as soon as possible,” he said when met by reporters after attending the handover of sacrificial meat at Sekolah Kebangsaan Abang Ali here today.

Meanwhile, on the programme, Dr Annuar, who is also the Nangka assemblyman, said that a total of 116 students who are orphans from schools under the Nangka constituency received the sacrificial meat.

“We also distributed it to ‘asnaf’ or underprivileged children in the Nangka constituency.

“The three cows we sacrificed were contributed by the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Nangka Service Centre,” he added.
