KUCHING: Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS) has once again demonstrated its growing academic strength, as its second cohort of 79 students achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in the recent Cambridge Checkpoint Examinations.
The students’ performance was nothing short of exceptional, with over 50 per cent attaining the highest Outstanding Band in Science, and with more than 40 per cent achieving Outstanding Band in Mathematics, and 25 per cent in English as a Second Language (ESL).
Notably, 13 students secured an Outstanding Band in all three core subjects, while two students recorded perfect scores (a band score of 50) across the board, a rare academic feat.
“We are incredibly proud of our second cohort of students for their remarkable achievements,” the school stated in a Facebook post.
“This success reflects the collective effort of our students, teachers and parents.”
YSISS also surpassed the international average band scores in all subjects, recording an average of 33 in ESL, 37 in Mathematics and 40 in Science.
This compares favourably with the global averages of 29 in ESL and 31 in both Mathematics and Science.
YSISS is a Cambridge International School established to provide quality international education to students, most of whom come from the B40 income group.
The school began operations at its Petra Jaya campus in 2022, followed by a second campus at 12th Mile, Kuching, in 2024.
A third campus is expected to open in Sibu in the third quarter of this year.
