After the “Jenazah prayers”, Zahid told the press he was very close to Daud when he was a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.
“We met often during national events, especially on Islmaic matters as he was Assistant Minister in charge of the state’s Islamic Affairs.
“He was well-versed in Islam and always helped the poor and the needy, especially the orphans .
“He (Daud) was called by the Almighty at 65, younger than many of us. May He place him with the others worthy of His heaven,” said Zahid.
Meanwhile, Johari said he knew Daud since they were in high school and had been with him in his political endeavours.
“He was with me as the Youth Chief in Satok Constituency until he was chosen as an election candidate. After winning, he went on to serve the state for five terms.
“His death is a great loss for us and let us all pray for him in the afterlife,” said Johari.
