KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his condolences to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, following the passing of his wife, the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.
In a statement issued this morning (June 23), Zahid described the loss as a profound one for the Premier, noting that the late Juma’ani had been a devoted life partner, a steadfast companion through all seasons, and a key pillar of support throughout the Premier’s leadership journey.
“The passing of someone so cherished, who has been a loyal companion in joy and hardship, and the Premier’s main source of strength, is an irreplaceable loss,” he said.
Zahid also paid tribute to the late Juma’ani’s character and contributions, describing her as a gentle, kind-hearted woman known for her dedication to welfare and community work, particularly in empowering women and grassroots communities across Sarawak.
“She was someone of noble character, closely involved in charitable efforts, and always committed to the betterment of society.
“Her passing is not only mourned by her family, but also by the people of Sarawak who have long appreciated her contributions,” he added.
Representing the federal government, Zahid said he would be visiting the family of the Premier this morning to personally convey his sympathies and express national solidarity in this moment of grief.
“I will be there on behalf of the federal government to offer condolences and to affirm the heartfelt prayers of all Malaysians for the Premier and his family,” he said.
He also offered prayers for the late Juma’ani, asking that her soul be blessed, her sins forgiven, and that she be placed among the righteous.
“May the Premier and his family be granted strength, patience and peace during this trying time,” Zahid said, concluding his message with a prayer and the recitation of Al-Fatihah in remembrance of the late Juma’ani.
