FORMER actress and model Zahnita Wilson has been granted temporary custody of her children by the court in her case against her husband, Abd Zackery Ghouse Abd Gafoor.
Zahnita described the court’s decision on December 6 as a significant victory for her, who had been separated from her three children for nearly two weeks.
According to the 39-year-old, the two-week separation was a difficult period, following a history of earlier separations, such as a previous instance where she was apart from her children for almost four months.
Zahnita acknowledged that the journey to secure custody required patience due to the lengthy legal process.
“I understand that to reunite with my children, I need to be patient, as these things don’t happen overnight. But now, I am relieved that temporary custody has been granted in my favour,” she said.
The court also granted visitation rights to her husband, allowing him to meet the children twice a month for two hours each session, under supervision. The case is set to be heard again on January 3 next year for further deliberation on permanent custody arrangements.
Zahnita’s marital struggles drew public attention recently when she shared a photo on Instagram showing a bruised eye, detailing living under servitude during her marriage, sparking speculation of domestic abuse.
Abd Zackery Ghouse was charged in court with two offenses — causing harm to Zahnita and involvement in drug abuse.
Previously, the Kuantan Magistrate’s Court granted Zahnita an Interim Protection Order (IPO) under the Domestic Violence Act 1994 to safeguard her against threats or harassment.
