KYIV, Ukraine: Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has asked the United States (US) for clarification on Moscow’s proposal for a ceasefire starting on May 9, reported German Press Agency (dpa).
Writing on social media networks today (April 30), Zelensky said: “We will clarify what exactly this is about – a few hours of security for a parade in Moscow, or something more. Our proposal is a long-term ceasefire, reliable and guaranteed security for people, and a lasting peace.”
He instructed his team to get in touch with the US side.
Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and US President, Donald Trump, spoke by telephone the previous evening about a limited ceasefire.
Putin is open to a truce during upcoming World War II commemorations, Kremlin foreign policy adviser, Yury Ushakov, said.
