SINGER Zizi Kirana says she has cut off contact with her former husband, actor Yusuf Bahrin, following their divorce on April 2, but continues to maintain a close relationship with his family.
The 41-year-old said she no longer communicates with Yusuf but still keeps in touch with his parents, siblings and aunts.
“Yusuf and I no longer have any contact. I have completely cut ties with him.
“But I still keep in touch with his family, including his mother, father, siblings and aunts. Alhamdulillah, we are still in contact,” she said.
Zizi said the close relationship she had built with her former in-laws over the years was a bond she saw no reason to break.
“His mother and father are very good people. His siblings and my brothers- and sisters-in-law are good people too, so I don’t think I should cut ties with them.
“The bond is still there. In fact, his mother often says she hopes our relationship will last until Jannah (paradise),” she said.
Recalling a recent visit from her former mother-in-law and sister-in-law, Zizi said they brought a variety of home-cooked food to her home.
“Recently, his mother came to visit me at home with my sister-in-law. They brought all sorts of food over and we had an amazing time together.
“I think this is what people mean by happiness. It may seem like an ordinary thing, but moments like this bring me joy. I don’t have to be enemies with anyone,” she said.
Zizi also said her former father-in-law holds a special place in her life, particularly because she never had a close relationship with her own father.
“I have never had a close relationship with my father. So, having someone like him as a father-in-law makes me feel very grateful.
“We went for umrah together in 2020. That is a very precious memory that I will treasure forever,” she said.
Zizi and Yusuf were officially divorced with one revocable talaq at the Petaling Lower Syariah Court in Shah Alam on April 2.
The couple married on September 19, 2021, after meeting while recording the entertainment programme ‘All Together Now Malaysia’.
