Zumba session kicks off Sarawak Day celebration in Sibu

SIBU: More than 500 fitness enthusiasts have joined a 45-minute Zumba session at Dataran Tuanku Bujang, marking the start of the Sarawak Day celebration in Sibu.

Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin led the morning session, which kicked off the three-day celebration being held from July 20 to 22.

Also taking part in the session were Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang and Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Len Talif Salleh.

Meanwhile, the Sibu Municipal Council Zumba team won the Most Creative Award, while Sekolah Kebangsaan St Mark and Tangkas Berbisa received the Most Cheerful and Best Costume awards respectively.

Each winner received RM500 from Lee during the prize presentation ceremony.

Later, Lee officially opened the Sarawak Day exhibition showcasing the State’s transformation.

Other programmes lined up for the Sarawak Day celebrations include a Thanksgiving Ceremony for Other Religions, a Majlis Kesyukuran at An-Nur Mosque, a Unity Walk, a town hall session at the University of Technology Sarawak, and the Sarawak Day assembly, which will also be held at Dataran Tuanku Bujang.
