KUCHING: Sarawak had 10 evacuation centres set up on Thursday (Feb 4) for flood victims.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said these comprised six evacuation centres in Serian Division, two in Samarahan Division, and one each in the divisions of Kapit and Bintulu.

He said this involved a total of 61 families, or 212 victims.

“SDMC right to the Divisional Disaster Management Committees (DDMCs) not only manage Covid-19 matters but also flood matters.

“We are always prepared to face any possibility which may happen,” he assured during SDMC’s press conference on Thursday.

At the same time, Uggah expressed the committee’s appreciation towards the parties involved for their commitment, efficiency, and capability in handling the situation on the ground.
