11 suspects still at large after fatal Bintulu brawl

BINTULU: Police are intensifying efforts to track down 11 more individuals for their alleged involvement in the death of a 28-year-old man following a brawl outside an entertainment centre here on Apr 27.

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said that they will not compromise and are committed to pursue the remaining suspects, who are still at large.

The suspects have been identified as Firman Ladawi @ Man Bugis; Firdaus @ Daus; Ilham Serudin @ Apek; Acok; Piee @ Piee Bugis; Rezza; Shahrol Khairul @ Shahrol; Alpian Asri @ Pian; Helmi Asri @ Helmi; Paw Kek Loong @ Ahloong; and Lucas Dundang @ Lucas.

“So far, nine individuals — eight men and one woman aged between their 20s and 40s — have been arrested and remanded to assist in the investigation.

“The public is reminded not to speculate or spread unverified information that could interfere with the investigation,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and caning upon conviction.

Nixon added that those with information on the suspects’ whereabouts are urged to contact investigating officer ASP Mohammad Hashim Kasman at 014-6817837 or Bintulu police operations centre at 086-318304.
