119 landowners compensated for AgriHub Lubok Punggor project

GEDONG: A total of 119 landowners received compensation amounting to RM6.5 million for the implementation of the AgriHub Lubok Punggor development project here.

The compensation cheques were presented by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during the Gedong District breaking-of-fast event held at Masjid Al-Khawtar here on Sunday (Mar 8).

The payment reflects the Sarawak government’s commitment to ensure that development projects proceed smoothly while safeguarding the welfare and rights of landowners affected by the project.

The AgriHub Lubok Punggor project is expected to boost modern agricultural development in the Gedong area

The project includes the construction of warehouse and machinery workshop facilities, water retention ponds, as well as the building and upgrading of irrigation and drainage systems to support modern agricultural activities in the area.

During the same event, assistance was also extended to the asnaf community. Ten representatives, representing about 300 beneficiaries, received contributions totalling RM10,000 from the Sarawak Premier’s Office, RM50,000 from Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) and RM30,000 from Bank Rakyat.

Additionally, RM61,000 was distributed to 26 recipients under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation, involving representatives of mosques and suraus in the area to support religious and community activities.

At the event, Abang Johari also joined the local community in breaking fast and performing the Maghrib prayer in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.
