KOTA SAMARAHAN: The public has been advised to prioritise safety while preparing for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
The advice came from Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Brahim who said safety should remain the top priority, especially for those travelling back to their hometowns during the festive season.
“In every programme that I attend, I emphasise the importance of safety during Hari Raya so that no unfortunate incidents occur while we celebrate,” he told reporters after officiating at the Ziarah Ramadan Stakan programme at Masjid Al-Malik, Taman Uni Garden on Sunday (Mar 8).
He noted that two houses were recently destroyed in fires within the Stakan constituency, highlighting the need for greater caution during the festive period.
“That is something we want to avoid. Hari Raya is a time for celebration, but safety must always come first,” he said.
Hamzah reminded the public that the festive season should be celebrated responsibly.
“Hari Raya is not only this year. Insya-Allah we will celebrate it again next year. Therefore, we must be careful and ensure that safety is always prioritised,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hamzah said the Ziarah Ramadan programme organised in the Stakan constituency this year included the distribution of assistance to more than 1,000 asnaf recipients.
The recipients were identified through local community leaders and mosque committees across the constituency.
He said the initiative was aimed at helping those in need prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
