BAU: A total of 16 Indonesian nationals were detained in an immigration crackdown across four locations here, including Kampung Jambusan, Bau town and Siniawan Central on Wednesday (May 14).
The operation, carried out by the Immigration Department’s Kuching enforcement unit under Ops Gegar and Ops Selera, involved 28 officers.
Premises inspected included entertainment outlets, reflexology centres and several restaurants suspected of employing undocumented foreign workers.
Authorities said initial checks found some of those detained had allegedly misused their social visit passes by working at entertainment premises.

All detainees, aged between 19 and 55, were taken to the Immigration Detention Depot for further action.
The case is being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
