The dawn of spring, in normal times, symbolises hope, a brighter future, a better tomorrow.

The biggest migration to return home to perform filial piety is on the way. A must, especially among Eastern cultures, in fact, many other cultures too.

Ostensibly, this Lunar New Year of the wooden snake is good, but the monumental uncertain global future seems to contain all the characteristics of the traditionally much feared cold blooded slimy reptile!

In what is probably the most unusual time when the climate is at its extreme, affecting all aspects of human activities, and creating environmental abnormalities!

Two springs in the year and all the impossibles become a reality. A generation that is turning the world upside down!

To save the battered eggshell-like environment, mankind must go green, but this is not to be, due to vested interest, and now made worse by a highly unconventional person, who left the Paris Climate agreement, left WHO and appointed a man who is anti COVID-19 vaccination, nor a health specialist, as Secretary of Health!

A controversial person who is known for spinning fake news is creating havoc unseen at any time in/recorded history.

We must all do our level best to counter this global disruption in order to return to some degree of normalcy. Across the globe, there is so much discontent, conflict, unrest, poverty, and destruction and added to that the uncontrolled desire to destroy some countries for selfish material gains.

In one country, almost reduced to rubble, women and children are the main casualties.

The escalation of all the woes in post 2019 has made recovery rather difficult, if not impossible!

Crime soars, so-called 1st World countries, have new urban poor, homeless, and hungry people.

It appears to many that fraud, scam, cheating, shameless, dishonesty, and extortion become rampant.

Needless to say, there are still a lot of people with integrity in business and other fields of human endeavour.

The little black dot, however, created the world’s problems today.

In this country, we are most fortunate to be spared all the natural disasters, earthquakes, torrential rains and floods, uncontrollable wildfires, tornadoes, typhoons, and hurricanes. So we are grateful for that, and each and every one of us has the patriotic duty to make this multi ethnic, multicultural, multi belief nation a peaceful, harmonious and inclusive country where acceptance, rather than just tolerance, is possible.

God bless the people. God bless this beautiful country of ours.

Happy New Year.
