212 Sibu civil servants receive Loyal Service Medal awards

SIBU: A total of 212 civil servants from 20 government departments and agencies were honoured with the Loyal Service Medal in recognition of their long-standing dedication and commitment to the public service.

The medals were presented by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Sibu Division Loyal Service Medal Presentation Ceremony held at the RH Hotel here on Friday (July 10).

The ceremony marked the fifth series of the award presentation for 2026, involving recipients from 15 Sarawak government departments and agencies and five federal government departments and agencies.

Recipients were drawn from the Sibu Divisional Resident’s Office (11), Kapit Divisional Resident’s Office (8), Forest Department Sarawak (1), Public Works Department Sarawak (4), Land and Survey Department Sarawak (13), Department of Irrigation and Drainage Sarawak (5), Department of Agriculture Sarawak (4), Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (2), Sarawak Welfare Department (4), Sarawak Syariah Judiciary Department (3), Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (1), Sibu Municipal Council (37), Kapit District Council (5), Sibu Rural District Council (4), Sarawak Rivers Board (5), Sarawak State Courts (2), Department of Information Malaysia Sarawak (2), Sarawak State Inspectorate of Schools (2), Sarawak State Health Department (24) and Sarawak State Education Department (75).

The award recognises officers who have rendered exemplary and loyal service over periods ranging from 20 to more than 40 years in the public sector.

Among those honoured were Sarawak State Health Department personnel Reddy Mohd Harun, Ringkai Sumok and Sulan Sawing, who each recorded 41 years of service.

Also receiving the medal were Sarawak State Education Department officers Raanah Lai and Wong Leong Choo, who each completed 40 years of service.
