LUNDU: A total of 30 heads of households in Kampung Pueh Kenek received basic food assistance through the Sentuhan Kasih Belia Programme organised by Kelab Belia Gagasan Inspirasi Bandar Kuching here on Saturday.
This initiative aims to ease the cost-of-living burden faced by underprivileged families, particularly in rural areas.
Each recipient received a food basket containing essential items such as rice, cooking oil and other daily necessities while children in each household received school necessities such as stationeries and brand-new school bag.
Recipients consisted of residents who are married to individuals from other ethnic backgrounds, showcasing the harmony and tolerance among its residents who have intermarried with Malays, Chinese and Indians.
Kampung Pueh Kenek is a prime example of harmony and tolerance in Sarawak.
The programme was initiated by Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and Santubong MP, as part of her continued commitment to the welfare and well-being of the people.

Her support strengthened ongoing efforts to ensure that assistance reaches communities in need through such initiatives.
The implementation of the programme was further strengthened through strategic collaboration with ARM Group Sdn Bhd and the P193 Santubong Service Centre.
This reflects effective synergy between youth organisations, the private sector and elected representatives in serving the community.
Programme director Abang Afhi Affandy, 25, said he hoped the Sentuhan Kasih Belia initiative would be sustained and expanded to more areas in the future.
He added that such programmes not only provide immediate relief to those in need but also help promote volunteerism and social compassion.
“Such programme reinforces the role of youth to advocate positive change in society,” he said in an Interview with Sarawak Tribune.
