KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian is continuing a meaningful family tradition by personally signing Hari Raya Aidilfitri greeting cards, a practice started by his late father Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong.
Dr Sim said that as Ramadan approaches its midway point, he has been catching up with the manual signing of the festive cards whenever he has spare time.
“Almost halfway through Ramadan, and whenever I have time to spare, I’m catching up with the manual signing of my Hari Raya Aidilfitri cards,” he said in his Facebook post.
Dr Sim said the tradition began with his late father, who personally signed every greeting card sent out using a fountain pen.
“Continuing a tradition started by my late father who in his time signed every card sent with a fountain pen.
“Now, I modernised the work with a roller ball pen which helps save time and avoids the messiness of ink, while still maintaining the family values behind the practice,” he said.
Members of the public who would like to receive one of his Hari Raya cards can fill in their details, including their town, through the online form at: https://forms.gle/QdMkhrrbS1vQJMjj6.
