SIBU: A total of 36 individuals were arrested during a proactive special narcotics operation from November 17 to 19.
Sibu Police Chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, said the arrests, conducted under ‘Op Tapis Narkotik’ involved 33 men and 3 women.
“Among them, one person was charged under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, four under Section 12(3), and 31 drug addicts under Section 15(1)(a).
“During the operations, the police also seized 6.56 grammes of suspected methamphetamine (syabu) valued at RM750,” he said in a statement.
All arrested individuals were subsequently charged in court.
Zulkipli added that the Royal Malaysian Police, particularly the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID), will continue intensifying efforts against drug distribution and abuse.
