KUCHING: A total of 37 foreign nationals were detained by the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) Sarawak during a two-day enforcement operations conducted across Kuching, Kota Samarahan and Lundu from June 11 to 12.
The operations, carried out by the Operations Unit of the Enforcement Division, involved Ops Selera, Ops Minyak, Ops Sapu, Ops Mahir and Ops Gegar at several locations identified as hotspots for foreign nationals.
Conducted from 9 am to 4 am, the operations covered 13 locations, including online gambling premises, eateries, rental rooms, car wash outlets, factories and entertainment centres in Kota Sentosa, Bintawa, Bandar Baru Semariang, Tabuan Jaya, Kota Samarahan, Lundu town and Pending.


A total of 122 individuals were inspected during the operations, leading to the arrest of 37 foreign nationals suspected of committing various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155).
Among the offences detected were overstaying under Section 15(1)(c) of the Act and failure to possess valid passes or travel documents under Section 6(1)(c).
JIM Sarawak said it would continue to intensify enforcement operations to detect, detain and take action against foreign nationals found violating the country’s immigration laws.
The department also urged members of the public to provide information on any activities that contravene immigration regulations to assist enforcement efforts.
