KUCHING: A total of 41 foreigners were arrested in integrated enforcement operations conducted at 16 locations around the city between April 9 and 10.
The Immigration Department said 24 officers were deployed in the operations, which began as early as 9:00 am.
“Initial inspections led to the arrest of 41 foreigners believed to be working without valid passes or permits, particularly at food premises in the Demak Laut Commercial Centre area,” it said in a statement.
The operations continued into the night, focusing on rental rooms in Bandar Baru Semariang and workers’ quarters along Jalan Astana.
The inspections were carried out to detect immigration offences and ensure compliance with existing laws.
The department said enforcement efforts would be carried out from time to time to curb the presence of undocumented foreigners in the state.
