THE Sarawak government has upgraded 81 dilapidated schools across the state to date.
Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said his ministry remains steadfast in ensuring safe, conducive and quality learning environments for students throughout Sarawak.
He said the completed projects involved the upgrading and refurbishment of school buildings to improve safety and learning conditions.

“Addressing dilapidated schools remains a top priority. While education falls under federal jurisdiction, my ministry, in collaboration with relevant agencies, will proactively monitor implementation and identify critical needs for intervention.
“Through strategic investment and partnerships, particularly in rural and interior areas, we remain committed to ensuring all Sarawakian children have access to safe and conducive learning environments,” he said.
He said this during his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (May 28).
On a related matter, Sagah said the redevelopment of SMK Tabuan Jaya State Sports School has been officially approved under Rolling Plan 5 of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).
He said the project will involve upgrading existing facilities, improving dietary standards, and procuring essential high-performance athletic equipment.
“With regard to food budget allocation, the Education Ministry (MOE) is working towards a standardised rate for all sports schools across Malaysia,” he added.
He said this during his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (May 28).
Speaking at a press conference shortly after, he explained that there are currently 40 remaining dilapidated schools in the state bound to be upgraded soon.
