KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 94 children from surrounding villages in Asajaya constituency and nearby areas participated in the third edition of Sunathon 3.0 2025 at Asajaya Health Clinic.
Of the registered participants, 84 were Malay, seven Iban, and one each from the Chinese, Bidayuh and Melanau communities.
Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah commended Asajaya Health Clinic for organising the programme, describing it as a cost-effective alternative to private clinics.
“God willing, with Allah’s blessings, we are given the strength and health to attend Sunathon 3.0 here.

“This platform helps children undergo circumcision at minimal cost while ensuring safety and professionalism,” he said in a speech delivered on his behalf by Samarahan Division Deputy Resident Rais Ahmad at Health Clinic Asajaya on Saturday.
The minister also expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the programme, including the Samarahan Division Health Office, the Advisory Panel of Asajaya Health Clinic, the Samarahan Branch of the Islamic Medical Welfare Association, Masjid An-Najah Asajaya, the Asajaya Fire and Rescue Department and the local police.
“This event is not only a step in the children’s journey of life, but also a moment filled with prayer and hope.
“Circumcision is a tradition passed down through generations, but it also has health benefits, helping to prevent disease and improve overall well-being,” Abdul Karim added.
Sunathon 3.0 is being held simultaneously across Sarawak, with a total of 1,700 children expected to undergo circumcision on Saturday, setting a record that will be included in The Malaysia Book of Records.
Other activities during the programme included health screenings, health talks, Health Care Scheme for Group B40 (PEKA B40) assessments and National Health Screening Initiative (NHSI) checks under the National Healthy Malaysia Agenda, focusing on self-health management.
Abdul Karim highlighted the growth of Sunathon 3.0 since its post COVID-19 revival.
“In 2022, 45 children participated at Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Serpan Laut, and in 2023, 83 children were circumcised at Masjid An-Najah Asajaya,” he said noting that the programme has steadily expanded each year.
He encouraged children to view the programme as an important lesson in personal care and hygiene.
“Through this process, children learn the importance of self-care, laying the foundation for a healthier and happier life,” he said.
Abdul Karim concluded by thanking all committees, volunteers and participants besides expressing hope that similar programmes could be organised on a larger scale in the future.
