MIRI: A foreign woman who attempted suicide is currently receiving medical treatment at Miri Hospital.

According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the 34-year-old woman from India attempted to drown herself at the beach at Taman Selera in Tanjong Lobang on Wednesday.

“She was later rescued by members of the public who pulled her to safety at 3.55pm.

“It is not yet known why the woman attempted suicide,” he said, adding that the case is still under investigation.

Prior to the incident, the woman was spotted walking from the beach right into the sea.
