KUCHING: About 1000 packs of meat were distributed yesterday to army personnel and members of the public during Hari Raya Aidiladha by the Army Eastern Administration Headquarters (Markas Pemerintahan Medan Timur).
The Army Eastern Field Command (EFC) Commander, Lieutenant General Dato Wira Mohd Zaki Mokhtar said local leaders and individuals had donated 20 cows and eight goats to army camps in the state.
“Today, here at Camp Penrissen, we slaughtered nine cows and yesterday, one cow for this annual programme,” he told reporters at a press conference during the Hari Raya Aidiladha and Qurban programme at Masjid Solahuddin Al-Ayubi, Kem Penrissen here.
He said that the meat would distributed today at Kampung Belimbing, Padawan to the needy families during this Hari Raya Aidiladha.
“We hope this year we could contribute as much as we can to our soliders and the public as well,” said Wira.
He added that his men were taking good care of the border security with the cooperation of the Indonesian Army (TNi) personnel.
“During the SEA Games, security was at its highest level in the country including Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.
