11 compounded for flouting SOPs

KUCHING: Police have issued 11 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement told that the police would continue to carry out operations to enforce the SOPs including the use of face masks and social distancing in public places.

“Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with seven, while one each was issued in Kota Samarahan, Sarikei, Miri and Betong.

“Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government issued 125 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils,” the committee said.

On the SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,570 premises throughout Sarawak.

These included 285 restaurants, 202 supermarkets, 119 banks, 84 places of worship, 65 public markets, 55 government offices, 42 hawker stalls, 39 factories, 38 leisure places, 13 construction sites and 628 others.

Under Ops Benteng, SDMC informed that a total of 727 vehicles were inspected at six roadblocks in five districts, namely two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
