KUCHING: A senior citizen was killed in an accident involving a four-wheel drive (4WD) and a lorry at Jalan Batu Kitang near Kampung Bumbok on Monday (Mar 15).
Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim has been identified as Lai Chung Tai, 77.
“Investigations found that the accident happened at 9.50am when the victim, who was heading towards Bau in the 4WD, was overtaking a vehicle and collided with the oncoming lorry that was heading towards Kota Sentosa.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” he said, adding that the lorry driver, 62, was unharmed.
Alexson added that the victim’s body was later taken to SGH for further action and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
