KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his inaugural speech last Sunday had reassured the youth that their involvement was welcomed in the new federal administration.

The prime minister hoped that the youth would work with the government to achieve the country’s grand recovery agenda.

New Sarawak Tribune on Monday (Aug 23) spoke to members of the public on their suggestions regarding initiatives that could be introduced to allow them to contribute their ideas and suggestions to the government.

The government can strengthen existing platforms such as Youth Parliament to give us a voice in a more appropriate manner and also expose young people to the responsibilities of leading the country.

The government can create an online application that can be used by youth to voice out their thoughts on current topics. Young people will also be able to convey their thoughts and issues to the government.

The government can provide an application for youth to voice their ideas and opinions. The initiative can also be used to hold discussions with youth representatives from each state. For example, the government can ask each state to appoint representatives to voice their opinions and ideas and discuss through Google Meet or Zoom.

Restart the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) programme that was once led by Khairy Jamaluddin by coordinating according to current needs. Through the programme, the youth’s views will be heard.

The government needs to intensify and increase the youth programmes for the younger generation. For example, the Youth Parliament Programme for young people to offer thoughts and viewpoints that will be considered in shaping our country’s future.
