KUCHING: Police have arrested a foreign woman for misusing a copy of a Malaysian identity card to seek treatment at a hospital here.

District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said a report on the offence was received at 10.53am on Tuesday.

“The suspect was found to have checked into the hospital ward using a copy of Malaysian identity card to seek treatment.

“A check found that the suspect had an expired travel document,” he said in a statement today.

An investigation paper was opened and investigations are being carried out under Regulation 25 (1) (o) of the National Registration Act 1990 and Section 15 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, the local police chief pointed out.

In this regard, Ahsmon advised the public to be careful when sharing copies of their identity card. They should avoid sharing ICs with other parties, he stressed.
