MIRI: All entries to the ‘My Beautiful Telang Usan’ contest will be compiled into a coffee table book as part of efforts to promote Telang Usan, said Sarawak Tourism Board chairman Dennis Ngau.
Speaking at the prizegiving ceremony of the third edition of the contest on Saturday, Dennis who is also Telang Usan assemblyman said a total 180 entries were received this time.
The contest initiated in 2018 is Dennis’s brainchild to promote various tourist attractions in Telang Usan.
On another note, he said that STB together with the Ministry of Tourism Sarawak is keen to assist travel agencies in the State for them post COVID-19.
“Things are looking good now, from the ground information I received, tourists are coming into the State, hence it is crucial for us to give support to travel agencies in order to make stronger preparations,” he said.
“Our travel agencies are facing some problems such as shortage in manpower because during the pandemic many were laid off and most of the workers (in the hospitality industry) went into other industries,” he said.
Dennis is optimistic that the number of tourists coming into Sarawak would increase when Brunei opens its land and sea border this August.
