KUCHING: The Magistrates’ Court here rejected the remand application against two businessmen and a man for allegedly submitting a claim containing false details of a former partner worth more than RM1.5mil to a government agency two years ago.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar on today (Jan 17) rejected the application and ordered the trio to be released.

It is understood that the application for remand for seven days under Section 18 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 was found not containing the necessary information to be allowed to be remanded in addition to the opinion that the investigation was incomplete.

Based on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) statement, in 2020 and 2021, a company was suspected of submitting a claim containing false information of a former partner to a government agency for works related to the supply of animal feed and aquaculture to the Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA) Kalaka-Saribas, Betong and Saratok offices from 2020 to 2021.

The total claim involved was RM1,584,247 but the supply was not fully implemented by the company involved.

The three suspects were arrested at the MACC at around 10.10pm to 10.30pm, on Monday (Jan 16).

Two suspects were represented by lawyer Danial Ling while the other was represented by Clarice Chan.
