KUCHING: A soldier died on the spot when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a school bus at Kpg Bratan, Jalan Puncak Borneo at 7.30 am yesterday.

The deceased identified as Johari bin Safi, 36, of Tundong, Bau was heading to 10th Mile Bazaar when the accident happened.

Due to the impact of the collision, the front section of Johari’s motorcycle and his legs were stuck to the front left side of the school bus.

The driver was unhurt and alone in the bus at the time of accident as he had sent students using the bus to their schools earlier on.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.

Johari left behind his wife, a lecturer, and three children aged 1, 5 and 7.

His remains were later taken in a police vehicle to the Sarawak General Hospital for a post mortem examination.
