BETONG: The Betong Food & Art Festival (BeFA Fest) has been declared an annual event after its successful debut from June 30 to July 1, according to Layar assemblyman Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu.
Rentap praised the community and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts for their tremendous support, contributing to the festival’s success.
He said this during the festival’s opening ceremony at Dataran Tasik Medan here today (June 1).
BeFA Fest 2023 was jointly organised by the Betong District Office, Betong Metro Polytechnic, and Gerempung Layar Tuai Rumah.
The festival featured several engaging competitions, including colouring contests, handicraft competitions, a creative ethnic mixed dance competition, the BeFA Fest 2023 Idol singing competition, and ethnic dance performances such as the ‘Kuntau’ (Iban martial art), ‘Ngajat’ dance, and Chinese community dance.
It also included stage performances by Melissa Francis, Hairee Francis, and Jeff Dom.
