SARIKEI: The younger generation is urged to utilise and embrace digital technology, which helps towards one’s self-improvement and community welfare.
Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif said that the misuse of digital technology must be avoided as it could have significant consequences.
“The Sarawak government strives to provide excellent telecommunications facilities, both in urban and rural areas.
“A well-established telecommunications system can bridge the gap between the people without boundaries. Therefore, it should be used responsibly and not for spreading fake news and slander, which could harm national unity,” he said.
Len, who is also Kuala Rajang assemblyman, said this during Majlis Santai Bersama Pemimpin here, today.
The programme was attended by 200 youths from Sarikei, Selalang, Muara Payang and Sare areas.
On that note, Len called on the younger generation to be more proactive in participating in development efforts by acquiring knowledge and technical skills required by the government through initiatives like the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS), Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), and the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA).
He also emphasised on the importance of education, which is one of the key elements to increase the household income in Sarawak’s journey to be a high income state by 2030.
