Cops probe sudden death of woman

KUCHING: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are launching an investigation regarding the death of a local woman near an entertainment centre here recently.

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said that they received a report on October 16, at approximately 3.29 am regarding the discovery of an unconscious 24-year-old local woman on the side of the road near an entertainment centre in the Kuching area. 

“The victim was transported by the entertainment centre staff and referred to a medical centre but it was confirmed by the attending doctor that she had passed away on the way there. 

“The victim was a student at a private educational institution,” he said.

The preliminary investigation by the police did not reveal any criminal elements, and this case has been classified as a sudden death.

Ahsmon added that statements from the victim’s family and several witnesses have been collected.

The police are committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation while awaiting the forensic report.

In light of this, the police advised the public not to speculate in order to respect the sensitivity of the victim’s family.
