KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here ordered a husband and wife to maintain a peace bond for six months after they fought with each other on Jan 21.

Rahmat, 28, and Siti Kamaria, 35, each pleaded guilty to the charge, framed under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

According to the facts of the case, Rahmat, who works as a lorry driver, slapped his wife in the face at their rented house around 10.30 am.

The altercation, witnessed by the wife’s aunt, was reportedly provoked when Rahmat told Siti to go to the clinic for a health check-up.

A police report was lodged for further action and investigation.

The wife experienced injuries to her eyes, cheeks, and stomach. However, a medical report found that the injuries sustained by the wife were unrelated to the slapping incident.

Hence, as a measure to prevent the recurrence of such an incident, Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali ordered both of them to maintain a peace bond for six months with a RM100 surety.
