KUCHING: The opening of Sarawak’s first law bookstore in the Kuching Court Complex makes it easier for legal practitioners to obtain law books and other law related items.
Chief Judge of Sarawak and Sabah Tan Seri Abdul Rahman Sebli was present to officiate the opening of the new branch of the Joshua Legal Art Gallery (JLAG) bookstore at the court complex yesterday.
The JLAG managing director, Joshua Paul said this would be its third branch, apart from the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex and another one the Kota Kinabalu High Court Complex, he told reporters after the ‘Opening Ceremony of the Launch of the Bookstore’ here.
“Our main targets are judges, lawyers, students and other legal practitioners.Therefore, this location is the most strategic and suitable to make it easier for them to get legal reference book and materials,” he said
He added that JLAG also provides online purchase of books especially for the younger generation who does not need physical books.
Commending on the existence of the bookstore, he said it would be easier for senior lawyers who prefer to refer to books and materials physically.
Joshua explained that JLAG offers various types of law-related books such as civil and criminal books, family law, contract law and others.
“In addition to foreign book writers, we also sell books written by local writers from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. Among the examples of Sarawakian law book writers is Tan Kee Heng,” he reiterated
Members of the public who are interested in obtaining law-related books at the bookstore can come to the Kuching Court Complex during office hours from Monday to Friday, opens at 8am to 4pm.
