KUCHING: Sarawak’s Tyng Dance Academy (TDA) delivered an outstanding performance at the Malaysia Challenge Cup Dance Competition (MCCDC) 2024 in Kuala Lumpur by securing four prestigious awards.
Chai Sin Yee earned a silver medal in the Cultural Dance category for ages 20 and above. Irelene Chan Eng Xi won both a silver medal in the Cultural Dance category for age 19 and a bronze medal in the Classical Ballet Repertoire category for age 19.
Additionally, Jasmine Kho Jing Tong took a bronze in the Classical Ballet Repertoire category for age 14.
TDA said these accolades are a testament to the rigorous training and passion of their students, guided by their principal and lead coach Chan Tyng Tyng.
“The dancers, all proud ‘anak Sarawak’, showcased their exceptional talent and dedication on a national stage, making their homeland proud,” it said.
The dance academy said the success at MCCDC 2024 not only reflects their dedication to the art of dance but also their commitment to celebrate and share their Sarawakian heritage through performance.
“Our students have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results, and it is a proud moment for us to bring these medals back to Sarawak,” Chan added.
Meanwhile, one of the standout performers, Irelene also shared her excitement and determination.
“Never give up. I will continue to work harder to achieve even greater success in the future,” she said.
The MCCDC 2024 was held at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) from May 30 to June 2.
