BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Sarawak government has identified a candidate for the post of chief executive officer (CEO) of the Sarawak Trade And Tourism Office Brunei (STATOB).

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the CEO will head the operations of the STATOB Office which is expected to open in the near future.

With the opening of the office, he hoped bilateral economic and trade cooperation between the Brunei and Sarawak will be enhanced.

“I am confident that the cooperation between both governments in various sectors, especially trade and tourism, will bring prosperity and mutual prosperity,” he said.

He was speaking at a dinner function attended by the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi and the Sarawak diaspora at the Malaysian High Commission Office at Brunei Darussalam here last night (June 23).

On another matter, Awang Tengah said that Wan Junaidi’s work visit to Brunei Darussalam here is meaningful and will certainly continue to strengthen the already close ties between Brunei and Sarawak.

“The close relationship between Brunei and Sarawak is very important not only because we are close neighbours, but also to strengthen cooperation in sectors such as trade and investment, especially in socio-economic development,” he said.
