Temple committee receives grant for ghost month activities

KUCHING: Temple committee of Kuil Chin Kiun Thai and Tai Pak Kung at Jalan Semaba, Mile 5, here has received a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM10,000 to support its various religious and welfare activities for the ‘ghost month’.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin handed the MRP on Sunday, which marks the first day of the seventh lunar month of the Chinese calendar, known as Ghost Month, with the Hungry Ghost Festival occurring on the 15th day.

“Sarawak is the best example of “Unity in Diversity” where people of different religions and cultures living together in unity despite various differences and where people here respect each other,” he said in his speech during the simple handing over ceremony.

He added that unity in diversity of Sarawak is further strengthened by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led Sarawak government policy of social inclusivity under Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 which delivers a strong message that unity of Sarawakians is the strength and power of Sarawak.

“It is now the most important feature which is the foundation of a strong and prosperous Sarawak,” he said.
