BETONG: The construction of a new building for the dilapidated Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Nanga Atoi in Krian, Saratok is expected to be completed by January 2026, with a construction period of 20 months for the project.
The Public Works Department (PWD) stated in a Facebook post that the project scope includes the construction of several new building blocks for classrooms, science rooms, toilets, electrical & mechanical works, and others.
Built in 1947 and last renovated in 1994, the school’s reconstruction will provide good infrastructure facilities and a conducive and comfortable learning space for students and teachers once completed.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the school, which is one of the projects under the third phase of the RM1 billion Dilapidated School Redevelopment Project, was officiated by Krian assemblyman Friday Belik yesterday (Aug 9).
Also present were the Deputy Resident of Betong Division Khalid Andong, Betong Division PWD Engineer Jason Ng Boon as the Project Supervising Officer, Saratok District Education Officer Awet Gapor, and SK Nanga Atoi Headmaster Mohamad Isa Johari.
