KABONG: Nomination of candidates for the new management committee of As-Sabirin Kabong Mosque for the 2019-2021 term has been postponed to a date to be announced later.

The dissolution of the existing committee and the nomination of a new management committee was supposed to be held on Jan 24.

The meeting, however, was abruptly adjourned when some members, who were present, objected to the way the nomination process was carried out.

It is learnt that the members concerned had demanded that the meeting be conducted in a proper manner and efficiently.

They also questioned the election procedures and the validity of the nomination forms that had been distributed to members prior to the meeting.

Despite explanation by the organising committee, the meeting failed to reach a consensus, hence the adjournment of the meeting.

Kabong Islamic Welfare Trust Board (LAKIK) chairman Jarawi Amir, who was also present, accepted the objection and decided to postpone the dissolution of the present committee and election of new committee members.

Later, he also informed the meeting that a new set of nomination forms would be distributed to the villagers.

“We will seek the advice of Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir, district officer and Islamic Religious Department to ensure the election process is done smoothly and professionally the next time around,” he added.
