SARIKEI: A family of six narrowly escaped danger after a landslide outside their home in Sungai Kesa, Jalan Baron last night (Nov 27).
The incident happened at around 7 pm when the family heard unsettling noises of ground movement and found the hillside behind their hardcore poor housing project (PPRT) home collapsing, with debris cascading down.
Acting quickly, the family evacuated their home and alerted the authorities at 7.07 pm. No injuries were reported.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Sarikei station were dispatched to the scene to assess the situation.
Upon arrival, they found a tree stump, two palm trees, and mud had slid downhill, hitting the side and front of the house.
The team is closely monitoring the situation and urged the family to remain vigilant and report any further ground movement to authorities.
