THE long-awaited heist movie “Ocean’s 14” has secured its director, with David Leitch, known for “Deadpool 2”, stepping in to helm the project.
George Clooney and Brad Pitt are set to reprise their iconic roles as Danny Ocean and his trusted right-hand man, Robert “Rusty” Ryan, respectively.
Leitch, who previously collaborated with Pitt on “Bullet Train”, will take over from Steven Soderbergh, the director of the franchise’s first three installments.
The “Ocean’s Eleven” franchise began with the 2001 remake of the 1960 Rat Pack classic. The film was a box office hit, earning US$450.7 million on an US$85 million budget. It spawned two sequels, released in 2004 and 2007.
In 2018, the franchise expanded with “Ocean’s Eight”, an all-female heist comedy featuring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter.
Interestingly, “Ocean’s 14” isn’t the only project in development within the Ocean’s universe. Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie are set to star in a Jay Roach-directed prequel, “Ocean’s Eleven”, which will be set in Europe during the 1960s.
