SELANGAU: A joint relief mission has been launched in aid of residents affected by floods in Tajam, Tamin.

It involves the District Office, Welfare Department, and the Tamin Constituency Service Centre, the Civil Defence Force (APMM), the Army (ATM), and the Fire and Rescue Department.

The mission, led by District Officer Yalin Asan, involved the distribution of food packs, drinking water, and other essential supplies to flood victims in the area.

The effort will cover 20 longhouses, two private residences, two schools, namely, SK Nanga Tajam and SK Saint Mark in Nanga Tamin as well as the Nanga Tamin Health Clinic in the Tajam area.

Food distribution for affected households is actively being carried out in Pekan Stapang, with similar assistance to be extended to all families cut off due to the floods.

According to Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang, the assistance aims to ensure that all disaster victims, regardless of background, receive the necessary attention and support.

“I will do my utmost to help residents in the Tamin constituency affected by the floods and ensure that no household is left out from receiving assistance from the relevant agencies. This is not the time to point fingers but rather a time for us to work together,” he said.

Gira also urged residents who have yet to receive aid to remain patient and pray for the smooth execution of the relief mission.
